My First Visit to Caddo Lake
Photographing a cypress swamp has been on my bucket list for years. So, in early November I took a few days to drive out to East Texas to visit this spectacular location!

Van Life and landscape photography on the California coast in January
After several months away, I finally made my way back to California from Texas, eager to reunite with the ocean.

Photo Flashback to December 2021, when I stumbled upon these totally absurd Dr. Seuss trees at the Salton Sea.

More beach photography fun. To add visual contrast, I softened out the water against the jagged and oddly colored reddish rock by using a shutter speed of half a second.
Even though I did this on my main camera, you can also do it on your smart phones with the right long exposure app.

Yesterday I posted that giant Recycled Roadrunner which happens to be located at a beautiful rest area overlooking Las Cruces, New Mexico, with the jagged Organ mountains in the background.
It was clear from the weather forecast there would be no clouds at sunset so I wasn’t having high expectations to get an interesting photograph of those mountains. I did a little playing around with long exposures to catch the headlights and tail lights on interstate 10. That’s not normally something I do but it was a fun experiment.
Myself and three or four other vans ended up staying there overnight. I think I was the earliest up and out of there since I had about 450 miles to drive today.

The roadrunner rest stop
Today I am in New Mexico on my way home. This rest area on I-10 at Las Cruces has a fabulous sculpture of a roadrunner. If you look close at the photos, you’ll see that it’s made from old computer parts and shoes... lots and lots of shoes.
I came here to check out the Organ Mountains. Conditions won’t be all that great because there won’t be any clouds in the sky this evening or in the morning, but I’ll see what I can get before a long day of driving tomorrow to get deep into Texas and close to home. I’ve been away three weeks and it’ll be great to get back! #roadrunner #LasCruces #4yearslongproject

Home from a week road trip up to New Mexico. Two classic photos of white sands, plus the bonus sun dog photograph. I have so many photos to go through and hoping to find something more unique to process.
Meanwhile, a reminder that my print shop has eight of my photographs available right now on limited release. They all go away on Wednesday, so time is short if you were thinking about picking one up for yourself or a friend. I don’t plan on bringing any of them back for quite a while. I’ll be putting up a new batch in January. You’ll find them on my website.
Your 2025 calendar, which includes 13 of my favorite photos from the past year is also still available on my website, keithcuddeback.com

It’s been a fabulous week, shooting sunrises and sunsets with my photography adventure group at White Sands! Last night was the best sunset I’ve ever seen here, and I’ve seen quite a few over the years.
Here are a couple of iPhone shots from yesterday since I haven’t done anything with the photos on my main camera yet.
Reminder that the 8 photographs for sale in my print shop are in their final few days on my website keithcuddeback.com

Whoohoo, my print shop is rocking! I’ve already had a special order for a metal print of that stunning Golden Gate Bridge photograph. I was a bit worried that I’d be talking to a brick wall, but you guys have been fantastic, and I really appreciate your support! I’ve got eight amazing photographs on my website that are available for two weeks only, so be sure to check them out before they disappear on December 18. Thanks a million, and I hope you find a photograph that blows your mind!

I’m beyond excited and a little nervous that my print shop is opening tomorrow morning. Here’s a sneak peek at another one of the eight photos I’ll be offering.
This one was taken at Bandon Beach on the Oregon coast, a place I always make time to visit and photograph when I’m in the area. I think this photo is really something special - the black and white, long exposure, and minimalist composition all come together to create a really serene atmosphere. If you think this would look amazing on your wall, be sure to check out my print shop which opens tomorrow. And a heads-up, these prints will only be available for two weeks.

What do these photos have in common? Well, for one thing they’re all from New Mexico, but I’m posting them to let you know that I’m leaving on Sunday, for a week, to go back to these two epic locations; Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands National Park.
Maybe you’re wondering why I’m hopping in JOY (my home on wheels) to go back to locations I’ve been to already. In fact, this will be, I believe, my fourth visit to White Sands.
There are two things in play. One is, conditions are always different. There’s always a new opportunity to get an epic sunrise or sunset images at White Sands. More about that in another post. The other thing is that a photographer always sees things differently and creates differently as he/she grows.
The photo from Carlsbad Caverns, people tell me, has vibes of a T-Rex. I felt really lucky getting this my first time down in the caverns. This time I’m anxious to look deeper and find new art. We’ll see what happens.
The other two photos are from White Sands. The one of JOY parked at the dunes shows how messy the dunes are close to the road where everybody goes. As a landscape photographer, my job is to simplify scenes I’m looking at to make a compelling image. I like to make images that evoke serenity which I think I captured in this third image where the dunes look like mounds of fresh whipping cream!
I’ll be posting photos along the way, so I invite you to follow along!

It’s that time of year again!

Today, I reached the Texas Louisiana border, secured my campsite, and embarked on an exhilarating adventure through the breathtaking Cypress Swamp, fulfilling a long-held dream that had seemed unlikely and out of reach. This enchanting destination has been on my bucket list for years, and I feel truly blessed to have made it this far.
The next three days promise to be a photographer’s paradise, and I’m confident that one of my captures will shine on my calendar this year - if I find time to create one. This place radiates magic!
